Ab Fab Celebrant
"The Only Limitation is Our Imagination !"
CONGRATULATIONS !!! – you’ve named the date, you’ve booked the venue and you may even have ‘said YES to the dress’… now you just need to find someone to trust with your love story… someone who will work their darnedest to make your wedding ceremony truly A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!
Well, look no further…here I am!…we will work together to create a warm, relaxed and intimate wedding ceremony, that is personal to you, truly reflects you as a couple, celebrates your love, and that of your family and friends too.
I am a Trained Marriage Celebrant and care passionately about my clients … I LOVE Love…and take so much pride in delivering a ceremony that you and your guests will rave about for years.
I’m also more than happy to conduct Elopement style ‘Tiny Weddings’; Civil Union Ceremonies; Commitment Ceremonies; Vow Renewals or a ceremony to mark a significant Wedding Anniversary – if you have something in mind just ask – I’d love to help.
As a NZ Registered Marriage & Civil Union Celebrant I can also guide you through the Legal requirements to make it all official!.
The death of a loved one or friend can be one of the hardest challenges we ever have to face.
We, of course, mourn for our loss, and want to organise a ceremony to publicly commemorate their life and their passing…however, these days, for many the ‘traditional’ funeral is now an all too sombre affair.
A ‘Celebration of Life’ gives us the opportunity to honour the memory of our loved one in a more contemporary, meaningful way…ceremonies have a lighter tone and are more individualised – we focus on the ‘person’ … we share memories, and voice our emotions through storytelling… we reflect on the personality of the one who has passed…who they were, what they achieved, what their values were, how they loved…and were loved. The stories told are often sprinkled with a touch of respectful humour.
Ceremonies can be as formal, or informal as you would like and can be held at any location that is significant to you and your loved one…from the family home, funeral home, or perhaps even a favourite sports ground…
I am a Trained Funeral Celebrant, so you can be confident that you will receive a truly professional service.
When planning your Ceremony, one of the most important decisions you will make is your choice of Celebrant. Although, every Ceremony is as individual as you are, should you choose me, my commitment to you will include:
- Initial meeting – Either face to face; skype; facetime; WhatsApp – whichever works for you. I love to hear your stories…We can discuss your overall ‘vision’ for your ceremony, get to know each other a little more, and having agreed a fee a 50% N.R. deposit will secure your booking*.
- Planning meeting – Ideally a face to face meeting, during which we can really get to work on those finer details. We can discuss your music choices; poems; readings and symbolic rituals that you may like included.
- Unlimited emails – I make myself available to you to guide you through the whole process – together we will create a ceremony that is unique to you.
- Depending on the type of ceremony, I may suggest a rehearsal prior to the date of the actual ceremony itself. **
- I will craft a bespoke ceremony that is meaningful to you, and then on your chosen day I will deliver the Ceremony with love & kindness.
*Deposit is non-refundable. Please arrange full Payment to be made one week in advance of your ceremony date (Excl. Funerals)
**I would strongly recommend a rehearsal prior to your Marriage or Civil Union ceremony.

Originally from the UK, like many others before me I moved to NZ to 'follow my heart' in that I had married a 'Southern Man' - we actually eloped here in 2003 - that was my very first encounter with a Celebrant - who married us in Christchurch.
The Ceremony was exactly what we wanted from a very 'tiny wedding', intimate and informal, some would even say 'casual', but it truly reflected who we were as a couple and still makes us smile when we recall that day...
We returned to live here in 2009, and in 2016 I was honoured to be granted NZ Citizenship - I am so proud to call Aotearoa my home and be able to call myself a 'Kiwi'.
I still support England in rugby
Graduation Day...following my return to practice as a Registered Nurse in NZ.
I actually have a whole heap of experience in Nursing and healthcare, having worked in the UK NHS since 1987.
I have cared for patients across the life span
'from 1st breath, 'til last'
...sharing in both moments of joy, and absolute despair...
With an empathetic, caring & compassionate attitude, that's complimented by a subtle sense of humour, I can create a ceremony that is a true reflection of you and your story.
With a professional attitude , you can be confident, that I will work conscientiously to provide a quality service, and deliver an individualised ceremony, that's right for you.
I recently had the honour of walking my daughter down the aisle and then make a speech as
'Mother of the Bride'
what a great day, such fun and I couldn't have been more proud.
Family has always been important to me, and I so enjoyed watching my children grow into the awesome people that they have become.
Our family has dwindled in numbers over the years and we have endured the loss of many loved ones - some expected, but others taken too soon in tragic circumstances.
Having experienced personal loss of family members, and friends, I understand how important it is to receive the right support in those early days.
I can be that support.
I see this role as a natural progression from my role as an RN, with many of the skills I acquired being transferable - empathy, compassion, advocacy and attention to detail.
As a Professional Celebrant, I recognise the importance of a strong theoretical knowledge base on which to develop practice - that's why I am in the process of completing a Diploma in Celebrant Studies with
The Celebrant School (Auckland).
Although I have a Degree in Nursing, the Diploma in Celebrant Studies will provide me with a deeper understanding of ceremony and ritual throughout the life stages, so that I can then craft effective, contemporary ceremonies, with you at the centre.
Providing a Quality Service
The Gift of Love
The tides shall cease to beat the shore,
The stars fall from the sky,
Yet, I will love you more and more
Until the day I die, my love,
Until the day I die.

Bay of Islands
I am fortunate to live in the BEAUTIFUL Bay of Islands, with its warm sub-tropical climate, pristine beaches, secluded coves, and turquoise waters …whether you are planning beachey boho or something a little more chic as it’s just over three hours from Auckland – it’s the perfect wedding destination for you and your guests…so why wouldn’t you?
I am proud to call Kerikeri my ‘hometown’ – as one of the first European settlements, and the location of the oldest house in NZ, the area is rich in cultural heritage – Kerikeri basin is accredited as NZ most historic site of national importance. Being the largest town in the Far North, we have a wide range of accommodation options, great venues – including local vineyards and fabulous restaurants all within minutes of the town center.
“Now join your hands, and with your hands, your hearts”
A Grandfather's tale
…Almost…but not quite, childhood sweethearts…this couple chose to mark their ten year ‘dating’ anniversary, by ‘tying the knot’…aka signing on the dotted line/making it official…on the beautiful headland that is situated on ‘Baylys Farm’.
…United by their shared heritage – this gorgeous couple were supported by sooooooooo many family and friends…many of which, had travelled from all four corners of the globe – just to ‘be there’ to support them on their very special day…this included, one VERY proud Grandfather…John, who spoke about them in terms of a ‘Prince and Princess’ who…destined by fate, had come together from distant lands, to meet and marry in a very special spot…in this little piece of paradise… only found in Aotearoa, New Zealand.
T & S – Oct 2019
L & J 19th March 2020
We look back on our March wedding which was arranged in just three days and less than a week before Covid-19 lock-down and are simply delighted that it not only went ahead but was such a fun and happy wedding.
I searched on-line for a Celebrant in the Kerikeri area and came across Hearts and Flowers, the website was both professional and relevant so I made contact after being able to book a time slot. Julie responded by phone and email within a very short time, she was prepared to work with us to achieve the wedding we were looking for, short, intimate and lovely.
Julie took the pressure off my shoulders and allowed me to go ahead and make other arrangements. In short Julie helped make our wedding romantic and everything we wanted it to be.
I would not hesitate to engage Julie for any Celebrant requirements again.
Thank you Julie.
